Somatoemotional Release

SomatoEmotional Release works hand-in-hand with CranioSacral Therapy to address pain and restrictions on an emotional level. It helps your mind and body release the residual effects of trauma and difficult emotional experiences.

Sometimes, when you are hurt, your body retains physical forces and their accompanying emotional energy, rather than dissipating them. As your body heals from injury, it can isolate or wall of this energy into an energy cyst. This eventually weakens and tires your body and you can develop symptoms of pain, dysfunction or emotional stress.

SomatoEmotional Release is a comfortable holistic mind-body approach to release these energy cysts. I use it in conjunction with CranioSacral Therapy, as a deeper approach to healing.

Myofacial

This is the traditional method you imagine when you think of massage. Through slowly and gently stretching tight muscles and connective tissue, I allow restricted tissues to relax and lengthen, providing relief from pain and restoration of motion.

Myofascial release is a soft-tissue therapy which focuses on the myofascial connective tissue.

Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps all structures of your body, including muscle. It supports and protects these structures, but can become restricted due to disease, injury or inactivity, resulting in pain, muscle tension and diminished blood flow.

Improvement in the structure of fascia has been proven to increase function in all aspects of the body. It helps circulation, lymph and immune responses most directly. Decrease in inflammation and improved function translate into better health and less pain.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy alleviates pain through isolated pressure and release on tender areas of the body. These trigger points often cause referring pain elsewhere in the body. Releasing these constricted areas relieves the tenderness and improves mobility.

Acupressure uses much of the same principle as trigger point therapy by using not just tender points but recognized points from Oriental systems of healing such as acupuncture and shiatsu.

The focus is on relieving tenderness and improving the balance of energy throughout the body. Often I use tender trigger points with distant acupressure points to help move stagnant energy and restore normal flow for longer pain relief.
